PERAMBALUR - City Around

Perambalur is an administrative district, a centrally located inland of Tamil Nadu. The District is surrounded by Cuddalore, Tiruchirapalli, Thanjavur and Namakkal Districts. The river Cauvery is the main flow for the region and the major crops grown in this District are paddy, groundnut, sugarcane, millets and cashew. Presently, Perambalur is the main producer of maize and small onion in Tamil Nadu.

Perambalur is planning to set up a Special Economic Zone with high technology through a joint venture with Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation. This Special Economic Zone will soon bring in Industries with high technology, bio-technology, pharmaceutical companies, textile and leather clusters. This Project will be extended with world class infrastructure and in addition, residential and recreational complexes are planned within the Special Economic Zone. With all the above, the Government of Tamil Nadu is taking necessary steps to open an Airport in Perambalur at the earliest.
